Citizen of the Year Award
Awarded annually to an individual whose leadership, service, and sustained commitment have strengthened the Monadnock Region.
Prior to the formation of the Greater Monadnock Collaborative, the Greater Keene Chamber recognized exceptional individuals through its Community Service Award, while the Peterborough Chamber presented a Citizen of the Year honor. Today, this regional award carries forward that shared tradition of recognizing individuals whose impact extends beyond their profession and whose contributions help shape the strength and character of the Monadnock Region.
Notably, Windsor Brooks, whose name now defines the Business of the Year Award, was himself a recipient of the former Community Service Award, reflecting the deep civic legacy that continues through this recognition.
Nominees for Citizen of the Year should demonstrate:
-
Sustained community service, ideally spanning ten or more years.
-
Leadership that has made a meaningful and lasting difference within the Monadnock Region.
-
Generous contributions of time and talent that extend beyond the responsibilities of their profession.
-
A commitment to community life that inspires others to contribute.
Nominees must be adults living in the Monadnock Region. The Citizen of the Year Award is a one-time honor; previous recipients are not eligible.
The recipient is selected by a committee comprised of the five most recent award recipients.
